You've never had biscotti?!

Biscotti are almond-shaped biscuits that originated in the Tuscan city of Prato in Italy during the 14th century. They were baked twice, which reduced moisture content and made them super crunchy, mold-resistant and perfect for the long travels of the day. In Italy biscotti are typically served as an after-dinner dessert with a Tuscan wine called vin santo. You can enjoy them with your favorite cognac, dessert wine or a cappuccino, latte, or tea.

My biscotti are super-crunchy and are perfect for dunking...if you like that sort of thing. They are baked to order and despite having no preservatives, will typically stay tasty for 2-3 weeks in a tightly sealed cookie tin.

And although they may look like an indulgence, biscotti aren't just for special occasions. Enjoy them with your morning coffee, as a light mid-day treat or cozy up with a blanket, a good book and some tea.

about me

Home Made Biscotti

I've always liked to be creative in the kitchen. I'm the kind of person who never follows a recipe in its entirety. Except when it comes to baking...which I learned early on is definitely more of an exact science and not something where "creative license"works well.

Because of that, I really only made one type of cookie for the past 40 years...Biscotti. It was too much work to make any time of year, especially with juggling the demands of career and family. But I always baked them during the holidays, making several batches over the course of a few weeks. I'd bring them to dinners and parties and serve them on pretty crystal platters...and they ALWAYS looked better than those other Christmas cookies on the dessert table!

Baking biscotti is an annual tradition in my family that I am now thrilled to share with anyone who wants that twice-baked crunch of Italian goodness! All of my delicious biscotti are baked to order, so you'll get a fresh batch that you can enjoy for weeks...if they last that long!

From my family to yours, mangia!
